Carmen Concepcion Brooks, CCS, CPC, CPC-I, CPC-H, CPC-P is an AAPC Approved PMCC Instructor who is proficient in UB-92, CMS-1500, COB, Third Party Payor, Superbill, Claim Reimbursement/Adjudication, and Patient Accounting and takes great pride in utilizing ICD-9, CPT, PDR, HCPCS, Medical/Dental terminology in sharing her expertise to her students at CodingCert.
Carmen serves as a Health Information Coder II; with the UCLA Department of Radiology. Here, she is tasked with assigning ICD-9 and CPT codes to Inpatient and Outpatient radiological procedures to include, but not limited to General, Ultrasound, Mammograms, CTs, and MRIs. Assign proper modifiers to ensure proper reimbursement.
Prior to this, Carmen was the Director -Central Billing Office for Global Cardio Care Centers where she managed Central Billing Office; coding of all E&M visits, diagnostic testing and lab services, taking charge of all aspects of billing, collections, accounts receivable. She was likewise responsible for physician education, compliance training and implementation.
She has her own school offering physician and facility education as well as CCS®, CPC® and Medical Billing Training.
